Prescriptions are prepared within 24 business hours following receipt of the form. You will be able to pick up the medication once it’s ready.

Your pet must have had a veterinary exam within the past 12 months for the renewal to be approved.

Renewals apply only to medications previously prescribed for your pet and deemed renewable by the veterinarian.
Veterinary Prescription Policy
Medical Exam Required
In accordance with the regulations of the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec (OMVQ), a prescription medication can only be prescribed or renewed if the animal has had a veterinary examination within the past 12 months.
This requirement ensures that the treatment remains appropriate, safe, and effective based on the evolution of your companion’s health condition.
Annual Prescription Renewal Fee
A prescription renewal fee is charged once per year, per animal, and per medical condition, only for treatments of chronic conditions.
This fee applies whether the medication is purchased from us or another provider, as it covers the review of the medical record, the veterinarian’s clinical decision-making, and the documentation of the prescription.
Acute conditions, which require a new evaluation for each episode, are not eligible for annual renewals and are subject to a new fee for each consultation.
This amount covers the veterinarian’s clinical work, including reviewing the file, assessing the animal’s current condition, and confirming that the treatment remains appropriate and safe.
These professional fees are regulated by the OMVQ, which states that every prescription decision involves a veterinary act that justifies associated fees.
